Originally completed in 1986, the Canada Centre Building in Scarborough, ON, is home to Service Canada, Passport Canada as well as the Canada Revenue Agency. Owned by the Federal Government and managed by BGIS, this site is one of one hundred buildings across Canada selected to be a part of the Smart Building Initiative led by Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC). In support of the initiative’s goal to lower the energy costs and the greenhouse gas emissions of all the participating properties over the next three years, Public Services and Procurement Canada engaged Smart Tech leader, RYCOM, in March 2018 to install the RYCOM Data Analytics Platform at this site. Once the platform deployed fully, data analysis began in June 2018.
Within 4 months, 37 maintenance items and optimization opportunities were identified using the platform with the potential of 119,250 kWh in annual electricity savings, 57GJ in annual gas savings and $18,960 in annual financial savings for this property alone.
